Your Questions About San Shield

Betty asks…
Just how out-of-control is Mayor Gavin Newsom and the city of San Francisco?
Taxpayer dollars have been used to provide a whole range of services for illegal alien teen felons specifically to keep them out of the hands of federal authorities who would have deported them:
As San Francisco’s juvenile justice system shielded young illegal immigrant felons.Mayor Gavin Newsom’s office gave grants totaling more than $650,000 to nonprofit agencies to provide the underage offenders with free services – everything from immigration attorneys to housing assistance to “arts and cultural affirmation activities,” city records show.In addition to immigration attorneys, Newsom’s office envisioned the program helping young felons obtain housing, food, clothing, educational and vocational training, English-language instruction, medical care and mental health assessments.
The program would also provide “spiritual, cultural enrichment and recreation activities.”
Do you believe the Mayor is violating federal law ??

If Mayor Gavin Newsom is serious about tightening up San Francisco’s sanctuary laws, he might want to take a look at the case of Marco Martinez – a 26-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador who has been arrested by police five times in the past year and a half for allegedly selling crack cocaine but has never wound up in the feds’ hands.

Is this a first where a major US city protected and funded undocumented alien criminals who preyed on people here legally, even city natives?
admin answers:
He should be brought up on federal charges and thrown in jail. He has been breaking federal law for years. And now it is time to pay the piper.

Home Depot, Forced to Provide Day Labor Facilities in Some Cities, Seeks Federal Shield Law?
WASHINGTON — The Home Depot is tired of being forced by local governments to accommodate the day laborers who turn up in its store parking lots seeking construction work. So the Georgia-based company turned to Congress for help.
The Senate could respond this week by attaching language to the immigration bill that would prohibit city councils from requiring home improvement stores to pay for shelters or other services to help maintain orderly day labor sites.
The amendment, sponsored by Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., is designed to curtail a practice in the California communities of Mountain View and Burbank, where city councils recently have forced Home Depot to build facilities for day laborers onsite or elsewhere, hire security staff and offer bathrooms in order to get the permits necessary for its operations.
Local governments in Los Angeles, San Francisco and other cities, including in Illinois and Washington, D.C., have imposed or are considering similar measures.
The local mandates, Isakson says, are a costly intrusion for home improvement stores. Services for day laborers, he said in an interview, should be the responsibility of local governments, and forcing specific companies to provide services as a condition of obtaining permits amounts to “extortion.”

So, what do you think of what’s happening here?
admin answers:
I hope this passes. Corporations should not be forced against their will to build these structures, especially for ILLEGAL aliens.

Carol asks…
Does Robert Shield’s Trickster Cafe still exist?
My Mime Teacher Jerry Hager (Kazoo the mime of San Diego) was showing us several video clips of various mime artists, we came across Robert Sheilds and he told us that he still performs at a restaurant called the Trickster Cafe in Sedona Arizona. Try as I may, any searches I’ve done online leads me to a dead end. Is it still running? If so, where can I find directions to it? If not, what became of it?
admin answers:
No idea, but I found two addresses and one phone number on a website, maybe that can help:
TRICKSTER CAFE & RESTAURANT 70 FRIENDSHIP WAY
TRICKSTER CAFE 25 LITTLE ELF DR (928)-282-7959
Or, maybe one of the Robert Sheilds Galleries (he’s also an artist) in Sedona could help:
928-282-5343
928-282-3995
928-204-9253
Good luck!

Did SF break Federal Law by paying 7000 a month to shield illegal teen drug dealers from deportation?
San Francisco — The last illegal immigrant juvenile offender who had been in a $7,000-a-month group home as part of San Francisco’s now-abandoned effort to shield young immigrants from deportation has bolted, authorities said Tuesday.
The youth walked away from the unlocked center in Atascadero (San Luis Obispo County) on Monday, bringing to 12 the number of illegal immigrant offenders in the past month who have fled from youth homes hundreds of miles from the city.
Ten of the 12, all of them from Honduras and all detained for dealing drugs, are still at large, including the youth who disappeared early Monday.
The juveniles were among the offenders San Francisco juvenile probation officials had decided not to refer to federal authorities for possible deportation proceedings. The city flew several such youths to their native countries without telling the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, and when federal officials objected to the flights, city officials started sending the offenders to group homes outside San Francisco. City taxpayers picked up the $7,000 monthly tab for each juvenile.http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/07/23/BAGF11TAMB.DTL
