Your Questions About Accutane Acne Treatment

Maria asks…
Has anyone had luck with the prescription acne treatment accutane?
My son’s dermatologist is trying a prescription body wash for my son’s severe acne, and said if this doesn’t work, he will try accutane. I was reading up on the literature he gave us about it and some of the side effects are pretty bad. I’d like to hear from someone who’s used it, did it help the acne? What side effects did you have?
admin answers:
No, it is very toxic and could cause a myriad of physical problems down the road. I was on it in the 70’s and then in the late 90’s and it made me quite ill and the ramifications are still not known about the drug.

Robert asks…
questions about the acne treatment accutane?
i got prescribed to take accutane to treat my acne, and i have some questions since im unfamiliar with the drug
-how long does it take so see results, and how long does the drug take to work ? i realize there is no such thing as instant results but im just curious.
-how bad are the side effects? or does it vary from person to person
-how does accutane work on the skin ? how exactly does it get rid of acne?
if you could answer these you would make my life awhole lot easier. thanks !
admin answers:
- it took about a month and a half for me, but the improvement was drastic
– it prolly varies from person to person, but the most annoying side effect I had to deal with were very dry lips – to the point were they would peal off and bleed even with the daily use of chapstick
- no idea, but my doctor told me it would have to get worse before it gets better; however, I don’t think it went worse in my case

James asks…
Accutane acne treatment. What are some side effects? And how fast does it work?
admin answers:
Hi Chevy Guy-
Sorry to hear you have acne, but glad that your doctor prescribed the strongest medicine to combat it.
Just like with any medication, side effects vary from person
to person. The majority of patients on Accuatane (or its generic name (Isotretinoin ) may experience:
* Dry skin requiring the frequent use of moisturizers
* Dry and cracking lips
* Nosebleeds
* Itchy skin
* Headaches( invest in Advil or Aleve-take one the
moment
you feel a headache coming)
* Excessive dryng&peeling, especially of the lips,eyes,
and nose
* Muscle aches and pains, even worse with physical activity
* Increased sensitivity to the sun causing sunburns more
easily
* Elevated triglyceride levels
Isotretinoin (generic name) has come under fire in recent years as it has been linked to depression & feelings of suicide. As a preventitive measure, there are programs that the patients under the treatment of Isotretinoin must enroll in.
The worst of the side-effects are in the beginning stages of you starting treatment. Most of the side effects subside with time, if thats any condolence .
Its really important you keep up with your dermatologist appointments and monthly blood tests, just to monitor your liver enzyme & triglyceride levels
Now, for the second part of your question-
You will see results within 3-4 weeks of your treatment. Your skin may or may not get worse within the first week of taking Accutane, but typically it takes a little more than 3 weeks for your to start seeing your skin clear up …
I hope I was of some help,,, Good Luck !!
*M*
Ps: If you can, try to invest in Aquaphor, an over the counter ointment for your lips , as they will get dry
AND
Eye drops, because Accutane will cause your eyes to become dry and irritated.

Donald asks…
I am considering going on Accutane treatment for acne. Are there any effects on existing tattoos?
My most recent tattoo is about 1 month old. I know you aren’t supposed to get tattoos while on the meds. I’m just concerned about my current ones. I’ve put a lot of money into them.
admin answers:
Nope im on accutane for the last 6 weeks and i have a tatoo and its fine but if your does start to fade then you could always get it reinked when you come off it

Thomas asks…
Is 100% Hoodia (from the makers of hydroxy cut) safe to take with my accutane for acne treatment?
I live an hour away from the closest clinic and hospital, so i cant always go to the doctor for little things, only when its something serious. I’m currently taking accutane and i would just like to know if it is safe to take both hoodia and accutane at the same time?
admin answers:
You’d better to consult your doctor but i was taking mega-hoodia while being on accutane and have not noticed any side-effects, Hoodia is basically a herbal with no chemicals in, so 100% herbal supplement should not have any interactions with the prescription drugs, anyway talk to you doctor first, i personally was approved to use this Hoodia, http://hoodiastock.com/?wm=11205&tr=8035
