How to Fix LCD Monitor – 4 Helpful Advices for Fixing As Many LCD Monitors as Possible
If you want to learn how to fix LCD monitors, then here’s my first piece of advice…Find out all the essential information on each and every LCD monitor components.
You have to know about the circuits of an LCD monitor, the panel, the AD/power/inverter boards, factory service mode, the various SMD codes, how the start circuit operates, how the backlight works and so on.
A good understanding of liquid crystal display technology is also important. Also, make sure you learn how to read the block diagram of an LCD monitor.
If you can’t figure out all these things, then I recommend you get an all-encompassing LCD monitor repair guide.
Some guides only provide simple troubleshooting tips. In your case, what you’re going to need is a repair guide that contains step-by-step repairing instructions AND detailed overview of LCD components, parts, circuits, etc.
There’s one such guide and you can check it out by clicking here. Make sure your color printer cartridge is full because the guide is 200 pages long and contains plenty of photo demonstrations.
Now, my next piece of advice on how to fix LCD monitors…
After removing the monitor cover, the first thing you should do is carefully observe the AD and inverter boards. Our objective at this point is to pick out obvious faults – if any…
You know things like burn marks due to shorted components, bloated electrolytic capacitors, dry joints and such.
Speaking of bloated capacitors, the ones located within the voltage transformer area are usually prone to this problem. So be sure to take a closer look at the electrolytic capacitors in that area.
My third piece of advice….
If you feel the problem lies with the LCD monitor’s MCU IC, what you should is take out your oscilloscope and perform a full inspection of the waveform, supply voltage as well as the IC’s signal output.
Remember, the necessary data can be programmed right into the MCU that is of course, if you have access to the programmer.
Here’s, my final piece of advice…
Invest in a powerful magnifying glass! Listen, if you want to figure out how to fix LCD monitors and complete the troubleshooting process as quickly as possible, then I recommend getting at least a 35X magnifying glass.
Without a high-powered magnifying glass, it’s hard to inspect the spider IC because its legs are so tiny. Checking the super small SMD number/devices and stuff like that would also prove to be difficult as well.
A 35X magnifying glass might be a little pricey, but trust me, it’s worth it!
