A Natural Remedy That Really Prevents and Lessens Face Wrinkles
I have become my own test lab for many natural treatments, supplements and the like out of sheer necessity. That is mostly because the older I have gotten, the more allergic I have become to many of those items I used in the past.
I am definitely of an age where wrinkles wouldn’t look out of place. But I’m doing my best not to let them take up permanent residence.
It is well known that we should limit exposure to the sun, drink lots of water and eat the right foods if we want to keep our skin looking young. But most of us don’t always do what is best for us. And so we resort to alternative measures like purchasing lotions and potions to try and counteract our lack of diligence in other areas.
I myself have tried many of the popular anti-wrinkle creams only to have most end up in a drawer because they made my skin burn from an allergic reaction.
A friend gave me some supposedly hypo-allergenic eye cream that turned my eyelids bright red. That’s when I gave up and started using my common sense to figure out a solution.
And after about 2 years of trial and error, I have found something that not only has prevented more wrinkles from forming, but has actually lessened the depth of the furrow lines between my eyebrows and has altogether eliminated one small patch of fine wrinkles that had started a couple of years ago on my jaw line. It’s now completely gone!
So what is it? Drum roll please. I use Jason Aloe Vera Moisturizing Gel. My common sense reminded me that aloe vera is nature’s perfect healer of burns and skin irritations, and that’s why I first tried it.
I apply a thin layer of the clear gel over my entire face, neck, ears and chest twice a day. A few caveats: 1) Apply to clean skin only and don’t apply a second layer on top of a first you had applied earlier as that sometimes causes white spots that look like peeling patches of skin. It comes off easily with a wet wash cloth and plain water. 2) Don’t apply under makeup or foundation for the same reason. If I am wearing foundation, I apply a non-allergenic moisturizer under it first. And as soon as I am home for the evening, I remove the makeup and apply the aloe vera gel to my clean face. It is a great, refreshing feeling.
The cheap drug store brands seem to have a lot of alcohol in them and didn’t make the skin feel as smooth after applying as the Jason brand. That may be because the Jason contains something called Allantoin that the others don’t have. The Jason brand is pure, natural and organic, too. I buy it at Whole Foods, but it can probably be found in better health food stores, also. The last bottle I purchased cost me $7.99 which is a tiny fraction of the cost of the more well known anti-wrinkle creams.
I would imagine that aloe vera gel works as well for men as it does for women. We both want to remove or prevent those fine lines especially around our eyes. I use a clean tiny sponge tipped makeup stick to apply the aloe vera gel right up to and along the edge of my eyelashes. I used to have red, cracked skin along the top lid right and into the corners of my eyes. The tiny makeup stick places the gel easily into that area without getting any into my eyes. And now they have healed and are smooth.
A funny side note about the cheaper drugstore brands is that most are colored bright green probably because everyone knows that an aloe plant is green, right? However, the healing aloe vera inside each leaf is colorless. So unless you’re a Martian and really want to absorb green dye into your skin, it is totally unnecessary. But I have started to notice more clear brands showing up on the drug store shelve recently. They must be catching on.
