We are all “Bagvertising.” Learn how to turn a shopping bag into your best marketing channel
Here is some exciting marketing news! A brilliant idea that emerged from the greatest minds of the best marketers out there. It’s called a Walking Billboard! Yes, you are not dreaming, it’s the year 2009 and the walking billboard is everywhere. What is it? Well, it’s you. Bagvertising is much cheaper than advertising on billboards, TV or radio and is actually pretty efficient because it functions as a mobile ad and people tend to take it home with them, which you can’t really say about billboards.
Bagvertising is more than just putting your business address on a plastic bag along with a smiley face and Have a Nice Day printed on it. Bagvertising is about boldness and innovation, it’s about thinking out of the bag. In order to be a successful bagvertiser, you should always be original. Don’t approach the bag if you can only perceive it as bag. This is one time that you should judge a bag by its cover. Most successful bagvertisers play on the handle theme and make the individual that carries the bag into a part of the campaign. What do I mean? A certain company that sells anti-nail-biting polish printed a face on the bag with the handle functioning as a mouth. There are teeth around the hole where you grip the bag and when you walk around with it in the street it seems like the mouth is biting your fingers. The campaign is simple of course – with this kind of visual only a minimal “nail biter?” print can do the trick.
In these days, you can even walk into a coffee shop, buy a latte and discover that you end up bagvertising a wholesale internet website.
