James asks…

does anyone know who i can contact at science diet dog food (hills) if i want to become a dealer in the phils?

We are putting up a dog grooming and day care spa here in manila

admin answers:

Both SD and Hills are low end/ low quality foods. Why would you want to sell crap dog food to your clients?

Ruth asks…

My two kittens are farting a lot and have very soft poop is this normal?

I bought them three weeks ago from a shelter where they were eating science diet. I switched them over to Blue Buffalo Cat Spa Kitten formula which is supposed to be really good for them. Now they are excessively farting and their poop is very soft. Should I switch their food again? If so what is another really good dry formula?

admin answers:

The person who answered that the food is the culprit is absolutely right. Switching them over to a new brand of food suddenly can mess with their digestive system. Ideally you would want to mix small amounts of the new food in with their old food, gradually increasing the amount of new food for 10 days, until the are just eating the new kind. This will allow their system to adjust gradually, and no more runny poops or smelly farts.

Robert asks…

What are the pre-required courses for Speech Pathology?

I’m a freshman in college and I’m enrolled in all the pre-requirement courses for pre-med and nursing majors. I don’t feel like I’m on the right track because nursing is not the job I can image my self doing for life because I’ve always dreamed of working as a doctor in refugee camps. I love languages, and I’m more intrigued on getting my masters in speech pathology then apply for medical school. I’ve done a lot research regarding speech pathology studies. But I still feel insecure. If I’ve understood what I’ve read, then the pre-required courses for SPA are english, psy 1.pre-cal, bio for health science majors, chem.. 1a, Phys 202, Introductory Astronomy, and a Cultural Anthropology class. Then attend a B.A. program then a masters program. Right or am I completely misinterpreted what I’ve read :S
thanks for your time!

This is a link that list all program by state: http://www.capcsd.org/cgi-bin/caplist.exe/Programs_By_State

I’m not too sure about that astronomy course. But each school can establish its own requirements.

George asks…

Do you think I will be able to finish all of this by the end of the holidays?

So I have got a gift card to a spa/hotel with several activities including dinner feast, I need to cook a three course dinner(don’t ask me why) which including finding and tasting main meals, go to the science center, restyle my room to be less childish and finish my speech. What and where should I start?
Happy new year!

admin answers:

1. Cook
2. Speech
3. Science
4. Restyle room
Once youve done all that treat yourself to the spa! Have a good time. Hope that helps :D

Donna asks…

Blue Buffalo Cat Food or Science Diet????

I have been feeding my cats Science Diet for years now. They like it and have had no problems with it in the past. But I heard something yesterday about them now recalling foods with corn gluten. I know that Science Diet contains corn gluten. I was wondering if anyone had ever fed their cats the Blue Buffalo “spa select” dry food? Is this food safer because it does not contain any wheat, corn or soy gluten? I would appreciate you sharing any positive or negatives experiences that you and your kitty have had with this food. I am nervous about switching my cats to a new brand that I know nothing about, but I am also worried about the corn gluten found in Science Diet! Is there anything safe we can feed our kitties anymore?? Thanks in advance for any answers!:)

admin answers:

Alyssa has a pretty good list of foods. I like the Artemis, Innova Evo, Solid Gold and CA Natural. The others mentioned have too much corn. The first TWO listed ingredients in a cat food should be human grade meat protein. Science Diet uses by-product meat which is treated with chemicals and labeled “unfit for human consumption” so you will be making an improvemnet by getting off that. SD is also one of the more expensive foods so switching to the others mentioned won’t make you suffer financially.

I was looking in the pet store today and the Newman’s dry food has only one meat protein source listed, followed by two grains, one of which is soy – a real no-no for cats. The Newman’s is about as pricey as you can find now.

Just be sure when switching to start off making a mixture of 3/4 old food with 1/4 of the new and use that for a week. Then make a mixture that is 1/2 old and 1/2 new and use that for another week. The third week make the mixture with 3/4 new and 1/4 old. After that the new food will be accepted “straight” without tummy upsets or diarrhea.

Blue Buffalo has always been considered an excellent food. Right now some of their products have been in the recall.
