Looking At A New Acne Treatment

Despite the fact that acne has been around since humans first arrived on the earth, there has never been any effective treatments for acne until recent decades. This is why there are so many ridiculous mythological causes for acne in existence. People were so strapped for a cure they started to come up with ridiculous and illogical causes that needed to be eliminated.

Sadly, many of these myths still perpetuate. Sugar, for example, is often blamed as a cause for acne when the truth of the matter is that sugar and acne have absolutely no correlation with one another. Thankfully, there have been many treatments for acne developed over the course of the past several years that have proven quite effective with the most prevalent being antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medications.

While these treatments have proven successful, they have also proven fleeting and this has led to the development of new acne treatment methods that have also proven successful as well.

A New Acne Treatment Emerges

One of the more successful products for dealing with acne was the controversial medication accutane which generally shrunk the oil glands in the skin. The result of this was that acne would have a difficult time growing because it did not have oil glands to inflame. Accutane, however, had a number of dangerous side effects such as birth defects and liver damage.

As a result, it has faded in popularity. However, a new acne treatment has emerged that has a remarkably similar effect on the oil glands that accutane had, but without any of the problems. This new acne treatment is a laser surgery process that closes the oil glands. This new acne treatment has proven quite successful and has also proven to eliminate acne permanently.

Costs Associated with this New Acne Treatment Laser Procedure

If there was a negative present to this new acne treatment it would be cost. In fact, the cost of the procedure can run upwards of $800 per session and based upon the severity of the session, several visits and treatments may be required. (Also, some insurance plans may not cover the procedure and treatments) However, the cost is ultimately worth it as it can effectively deal with acne at a level of success other treatments may not be able to reach.

As such, it would be best to discuss the options regarding this treatment with a dermatologist and see if it is the treatment for you as well as a treatment that can fit into your affordability range.
